Lover's Leap is closed

To protect the peregrine falcon, access to part of the climbing wall is prohibited through September 30, 2009. Please stay off the following: within 30 feet of the face of Lovers's Leap Rock, or within 30 feet of the top edge of Lover's Leap rock, and from the Bookmark route on the east to the Hourglass rount on the west, as shown on the attached map.

UPDATE: Lover's Leap is now open

The temporary closure of some or the climbing routes to protect the peregrine falcon while nesting has been lifted. The babies have successfully fledged. Thank you to the visitors that helped make this happen with their cooperation.

The Towers of Uncertainty climbing area is temporarily closed to all recreational use. The U.S. National Park Service has issued this closure due to raptor nesting. The climbing area is expected to be reopened at the end of the nesting season.

Poway Crags are closed

Golden eagles have been spotted nesting at the Ramona Wall. As a result, the City of Poway has decided to permanently close the Poway Crags. The Allied Climbers of San Diego (ACSD) is currently in contact with the City of Poway to try and negotiate seasonal closures instead.
