Description
San Diego County encompasses over 4,000 square miles of the southwest corner of the United States. Arid hills and valleys dominate the landscape, complemented by a few small but pleasant mountain ranges. Scattered around the county are many enjoyable climbing spots, ranging from the extensive to the obscure. Though a reputation as a home of toproping and bouldering was once well-deserved, quality lead routes including excellent multi-pitch climbs are available.
Description is from page 1 of the book's introduction.

Review
This is by far the best guidebook for San Diego County. The book outlines over 16 different climbing areas throughout San Diego. There are map overviews, detailed route drawings, ratings, and directions to each location. The authors go even further and show local places to eat in the area. The back of the book has an index of every route listed, along with the page number and rating. This book is 11 years old and it's still full of accurate information. The ratings are distinguished by +/- and not the familiar ABCD format. For example, the author will give a rating of 5.10+ and that equates to somewhere between a 5.10c or 5.10d. The book also gives a star rating for every route, which depicts the rock quality, length, difficulty, setting and appearance. This book is an absolute must for any rock climbers in San Diego County.
